Gifts to the foundation include corporate contributions, contributions by civic groups, estate or trust contributions, and individual contributions.

In addition, the Harrisonburg Education Foundation has recently introduced a new program that gives community members the opportunity to honor a teacher or staff member of the Harrisonburg City Public Schools in a very special way.

The "Honor a Teacher" program allows parents, teachers, students and community members to make a donation to the Harrisonburg Education Foundation while honoring a special teacher or staff member.

Here's how the program works:

• Make a contribution to the HEF for at least $25.
• Include the name of the teacher or staff member you would like to honor.
• The teacher or staff member will receive a letter stating that you have made a donation to the Harrisonburg Education Foundation in his or her honor.
• You will receive a letter confirming your donation, which may be used for tax purposes.

All the money raised from the “Honor a Teacher" program is used to further the mission of the Harrisonburg Education Foundation.

By honoring a teacher or staff member, you not only say “thank you” to that special teacher, but you'll also help support the Harrisonburg City Public Schools.
